Parisian Postcard Tank Dress

Parisian Postcard Tank Dress

The sister to the Eiffel Tower Dress

My latest creation! The sister to the Eiffel Tower Dress. This beautiful dress incorporates many elements that I love. The style is inspired, as always, by the brand Magnolia Pearl in so much as it’s an A-line, crinkly tank dress with shabby, frayed edges and an uneven hemline. It can be worn alone or over jeans with chunky boots.

It is all season and could be worn with a top underneath and tights as well, but this is a lightweight dress and will suit a hot summer day beautifully. It is made from all recycled material. The material is a pre owned Duvet cover that has been sanitised and stress tested for durability. The size of the dress is a small as it was determined by the graphic on the front. The front panel is a French postcard theme with letters and stamps. It also has flowers and a beautiful butterfly label. The label is hanging and could be removed easily if desired. The back of the dress is made from the back panel of the duvet cover and has stripes and a large patch/applique’ of the Eiffel Tower. The edges of the patch/applique’ are frayed and raw. These will distress with age along with the other raw edges. The colours are cool taupe, linen, white, and brown with contrast stitching in brown and vintage orange.

The contrast stitching is unique as the orange thread I’ve used is a 1950’s vintage thread that I was given by a friend. I feel that this adds a special unique quality to the dress. Please see photos of the thread. The dress content is 50/50 cotton/polyester, so very easy to wash and dry. It won’t crinkle quite as much as 100% cotton, but it has the advantage of looking really good when pressed as well. The length at maximum is approximately 45 inches in front, 47 inches in the back, but the hem will fray a bit with wear and washing. The hemline at the front is squared off and the back is curved. The seams inside the dress are left raw to fray and create an even more distressed look. The outside side seams are flat locked for good strength and durability as well as giving a lovely flat line.

This dress is an amazing piece of wearable art. The dress is photographed with a heart made from sticks on a ribbon and is included if you like.
