This beauty began as a pair of destroyed Ralph Lauren, Denim & Supply Shorts.
I left the leather label on the back because the leather is so cool. I then patched the holes with various materials including beautiful 100% cotton Turkish Kelim fabric, painted jersey strips from one of my wall art projects and various scraps of denim. I created the back flower out of the Kelim material. The fringe is a FAB piece of scrap from a recycled throw which drapes beautifully, gives enough cover, but leaves the length flirty and sexy. The hemline is asymmetrical. I’ve added decorative stitching in blue and golden orange, but no bleaching on this item. The side seams are outside seaming and frayed. This item has a dirty denim wash and looks great with tights and boots, but will take you into spring and summer with bare legs and flip flops.
The denim is mid-weight, but very distressed, soft and comfortable. The skirt sits well on the hips and has a slight A-line flare. So artistic and grungy, but with a feminine street vibe.
